In Memoriam: Tanisha

It was with a heavy heart that Gary gave us the news of the passing of his dear basset Tanisha – who lost a very short battle with cancer. Tanisha, like her dad Gary, was a dedicated supporter of the Calgary Basset Rescue and had attended our Waddle for the past 5 years. Tanisha had just turned 11-years old this past October.

Gary says this: “She was my everything. And I will miss her dearly.” Any of us who have also lost our bassets can easily share this sentiment. They are always such an important part of our lives and we miss them dearly when they are gone. To leave a condolence message for Gary, please leave a message below:

  1. So sorry for your loss Gary. We adopted Lola a year ago and she has brought us so much laughter and love, so I understand what a hole is left with Tanisha’s passing. I cannot imagine life without my Basset Baby “Queen Lola” so my thoughts are with you.

  2. So sorry to hear Gary. Tanisha looks a lot like our Bassett in coloring and face. Beautiful girl and hope your memories if her being comfort

  3. I am so sorry for your loss, Gary. I now have a wonderful Basset named Winnie whom I adopted from the society. I wish you peace.

  4. Having lost our Calgary Rescue Bassets Harley & Reba this year we can certainly sympathize with what you are going through Gary, so very hard. My advice to you would be to consider adopting again and give another well-deserving Basset a new-found forever home.

This is what we have recently done with the Calgary recue group and we are the better for it – in no way does a new dog take the place of the dog you have lost, it does though ease the pain a bit as you give a new hound a new lease on it’s life. The old adage “who rescued who ?” is so very true …..
